"One who understands our silence."
The winning definition: "A friend is the one who comes in when the whole world has gone out."
Among the many people with whom we come into contact, there are those who have experience tremendous grief, heartache, and loneliness. And they often sit in silence. The call of Jesus on our lives is simply to be the friend, the one who is there and understands. God just wants us to step forward and say, "I will be the one."
